Under the Road Rules, bicycles are considered to be vehicles. That means at roundabouts cyclists may occupy the whole lane.  As there are so many roundabouts in our region we have asked for additional signs to be erected.

Agreed that sites for treatment include:

• Portarlington – Queenscliff Road/Drysdale – St Leonards Road
• SurfCoast Hwy / Mt Duneed Rd
• Angelsea Rd / Great Ocean Road
• Shell Road / Grubb Road (smaller urban format)

VicRoads have agreed to this request and will trial some roundabouts where there have been accidents with cyclists. Cyclists at roundabouts should look for gaps in traffic and occupy the whole lane.
